What people usually ask us first.

Can I start PEP at 3am?

Yes. The clinic is open 24 hours, including weekends and public holidays. A quick WhatsApp message before you set off means the doctor is ready when you arrive.

I am on Koh Phangan or Koh Tao. Should I wait until I am back on Samui?

Do not wait longer than you need to. If you can reach Chaweng well inside your 72 hours, come straight here. If the ferry timing makes that hard, see the nearest doctor or hospital. Message us and we will help you work out the timing.

What if more than 72 hours have passed?

PEP is not usually started after 72 hours. Advice still matters: the doctor can plan your test dates and talk about PrEP if it suits you.

Does PEP always work?

No medicine is 100% effective, but PEP greatly lowers the chance of HIV when it starts early and every dose of the 28-day course is taken. That is why the follow-up tests matter too.

Will PEP make me feel ill?

Most people cope well with modern PEP. Mild nausea, headaches or tiredness can happen in the first days and usually settle. Message us if anything worries you.

What is the difference between PEP and PrEP?

PEP is an emergency 28-day course after a possible exposure. PrEP is taken before any exposure to keep preventing HIV. Many people finish PEP and move straight onto PrEP. More answers
